Seasoned IP and Legal Risk Expert Joins from Liberty Mutual to Drive Innovation and Excellence in Litigation Risk Coverage Solutions
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (January 23, 2025) -Ignite Specialty Risk, a leading provider of litigation risk insurance, today announced the appointment of Ankit Patel as U.S. Head of Intellectual Property (IP) Underwriting. With more than a decade of experience, Patel is an insurance expert specializing in contingent legal risks and IP.
Patel will leverage his technical expertise to assess legal risks, negotiate insurance agreements, supervise and advise on insured litigation matters, and support claims management. His experience spans a wide array of disciplines, including actuarial, underwriting, risk management, and operations.

Prior to joining Ignite, Patel led the Contingent Legal Risk Insurance team for the Americas at Liberty Mutual Corporation. Prior to working at Liberty, he served as Senior Intellectual Property Counsel at Ambridge Partners LLC, where he spearheaded IP insurance solutions and provided strategic guidance on mergers and acquisitions. With a robust legal background supported by an M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University, Patel excels in blending legal insight with technical acumen. He is admitted to the New Jersey and Illinois bars.
